It organises a big parade of gladness that will gather all the actors of the agricultural world (farmers, breeders, fishermen, processors, consumers) from 08:00 AM, in front of the headquarter of Togolese National Olympic Committee (CNOT) located between the Ministry of Agriculture and FAO office to fall to the beach of Lome, in front of hotel Le Benin (former Ibis).
"It's a kind of gratitude to those brave men and women who vowed to leave no stone unturned under the sun and the rain to meet our growing food needs," said ANANI Etsri, president of the organizing committee.
Theme of this first edition: "Help us feed you". For the newspaper's managers, it is a question of drawing the attention of the public authorities to take more care of these first actors who by their work manage to feed the whole population.
The approach is also part of FAO's zero hunger goal. It's all about "going from hunger to food security, from hoe to table".
"The farmer's May 1st parade is also a great business opportunity that will bring together all the players in the agricultural value chain that is input suppliers, producers, processors, financiers and consumers." said Mr ANANI.
The public is invited to massively join in the event so that they get directly in touch with farmers and processors to discover the different circuits and stages that the products cross before landing in the dishes.
